Nation IN BRIEF : COLORADO : 2 Charged With Disrupting Mosque
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Denver authorities filed misdemeanor charges against two radio station employees who barged into a mosque and began blaring the national anthem on a trumpet and bugle as part of a live, on-air stunt. A KBPI producer and sound engineer were charged, along with two deejays who were at the station during the prank. This follows Denver Nuggets star’s Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf’s refusal to stand during the pregame national anthem. Abdul-Rauf agreed to stand and pray silently after the NBA suspended him for a game.
