Fallon Leads Dana Hills Past University

Junior Brandon Fallon swept his sets at No. 1 singles to lead Dana Hills to a 10-8 victory over third-ranked University in a nonleague boys’ tennis match Friday at Dana Hills.

Fallon won 6-1, 6-2, 6-2. Freshman teammate Brian Kent playing at No. 2, picked up two victories for the Dolphins (7-0), winning 6-4, 6-1, and losing 6-3.

In the Garden Grove softball tournament:

Los Alamitos 6, Buena Park 0--Dinha Mead had two hits, a run batted in and a run scored and Kristi Bissonnette pitched a one-hitter for visiting Los Alamitos (5-3-1).

In nonleague softball:

Marina 5, Mojave (Ariz.) 2--Monica Mora drove in two runs for Marina (4-3-1).

Mater Dei 10, Mojave (Ariz.) 0--Marissa Young had two hits, including a triple, for top-ranked Mater Dei (10-0). On the mound in relief, Young struck out nine in three innings, giving up one hit.

St. Margaret’s 2, Los Angeles Brentwood 1--Gina Arreola drove in the winning run to hand Brentwood its first loss of the season. Pitcher Amber Arnold, who drove in St. Margaret’s first run with a single, had 13 strikeouts and gave up three hits. St. Margaret’s is 6-2.

In the Canyon boys’ swimming relays:

Santa Margarita wins--The Eagles won seven of eight of the relays to score 120 points. Villa Park was second with 96.

In the Canyon girls’ swimming relays:

Villa Park wins--Villa Park won the last event of the meet, the 500-yard freestyle relay, to edge Santa Margarita, 90-80. That winning relay team was made up of Kimber Davis, Jenny Michel, Sarah Gertler and Jessica Klugman. Orange finished third (74).

In the Tustin girls’ track and field relays:

Los Amigos sweeps weight events--Tofi Togagae won the shot put, in a county-best 41 feet 2 1/2 inches. That mark puts her among the 25 best in the county history. Teammate Carrie Axton won the discus with a county-best throw of 137-2.

In the Tustin boys’ track and field relays:

Jarne wins shot put--Sean Jarne of Esperanza led the Aztecs to a victory in the discus with a county-leading throw of 175-4.

In Garden Grove League boys’ volleyball:

La Quinta 3, Garden Grove 1--Scott Ogilvie had 18 kills and Hau Vo had 52 assists for host La Quinta (5-2, 3-0), which won, 10-15, 15-9, 17-15, 15-8. Ryan Clarkson had 24 kills for Garden Grove (2-5, 2-1).

In nonleague boys’ volleyball:

Valencia 3, Servite 2--Robert Smith had 22 kills and Kevin Allen 19 for host Valencia, which beat Servite (6-2), 15-13 4-15, 10-15, 15-8, 15-12.
