Slide Blocks Kanan Dume Road

Kanan Dume Road near Pacific Coast Highway was blocked in both directions this weekend when part of a hillside slid onto the roadway, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
A section of the hill came down late Friday about a mile north of Pacific Coast Highway, Sgt. Mary Olson of the sheriff’s Lost Hills Station said. Olson said she did not know what caused the slide.
“There’s no way to get around it,” she said.
It will take a week to a month to clear the road, depending on how long it takes to stabilize the hillside, Olson said.
Olson said motorists should use alternate routes, including Decker Road, or Latigo, Encinal, Malibu or Topanga canyon roads.
