Police Shootings

Share

Your article March 12 with the headline “Valley Struck by Rash of Police Shootings” is very offensive. The headline suggests that the police are attacking the Valley, when in fact the article describes situations in which officers’ lives were in grave jeopardy--for example, hanging out of a speeding car while trying to arrest a suspect.

The heading and article suggest that police perhaps acted too soon in shooting a suspect, that they should have waited longer to determine if the suspect really meant them any harm.I wonder how your reporters, Beth Shuster and Efrain Hernandez Jr., would act in similarcircumstances.

So arrests are down and deadly force is up. I have the answer. Quit killing the suspects and arrests are sure to rise.
