LAFCO Is Seeking Alternate Members

The Local Agency Formation Commission is accepting applications from people interested in serving as alternate public members.

LAFCO is a state agency that oversees all jurisdictional changes within Orange County. This includes incorporation of new cities, annexations to cities and dissolution of public agencies.

The purpose of LAFCO in part is to preserve agricultural land and open space and to discourage urban sprawl.

LAFCO meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month at 10 a.m. in the Planning Commission meeting room in Santa Ana.

The alternate public member is selected by the commission and is expected to attend all meetings and to vote in the absence of a regular member.

The deadline for applications and resumes is April 10 at 5 p.m. The office is at 12 Civic Center Plaza, Room 235, Santa Ana. To obtain an application, call (714) 834-2556.
