Jury Pool’s View

Re “From Bench to Box,” March 12:

Maybe if Judge Richard W. Stanford Jr. had to wait around like everyone else instead of being allowed to continue hearing cases until his name was called, he’d understand why citizens aren’t jumping for joy to do their civic duty.

When I was called for jury duty, the judge warned us, the prospective jurors, to return on time or we would be cited with contempt of court. We were all there, on the dot, and sat outside of the locked courtroom, on the floor, for over an hour until the doors were opened.

When Judge Stanford sits on the carpet with everyone else for an hour, I’ll be impressed.
