COREY NAKATANI, one of the leading jockeys in the country, and his wife, Michele, have purchased a home in Bradbury Estates for close to its asking price of $1.89 million, sources say.

Nakatani, 25, is riding today in the $350,000 King’s Cup at the Equestrian Club in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. His mount is Powerful Punch, owned by the Thoroughbred Corp., a group of Saudi investors.

Nakatani is the leading jockey this season at Santa Anita, with 71 winners; he’s in the lead by about a dozen races. His purse winnings for the year are a bit more than $3 million. He was given a five-day suspension and $500 fine in February for misuse of the whip after a December race.

The Nakatanis, who have three children, bought a newly built home with seven bedrooms in 7,000 square feet with city and mountain views. “You can see Santa Anita and beyond,” a source said.

The house, which also has a garage that can accommodate eight cars, is on three acres zoned for horses, which the Nakatanis plan to keep on their grounds. Their oldest child, a 5-year-old girl, already rides, a source said.

Michele Nakatani, daughter of thoroughbred trainer Wally Dollase, also plans to maintain a “a lay-up facility” where injured racehorses can stay until they get better, a source said. That will entail fencing the entire property and building a barn.

The Nakatanis moved from a smaller home in Sierra Madre, which they sold.

Jeannie Garr Roddy of the William Wilson Co. in Pasadena represented the Nakatanis in their purchase, and she and her mother, Jean Garr, also co-listed the property. Garr’s husband, Roddy’s father, is Bill Garr, a thoroughbred-racing radio personality for 35 years.

ROBERT BELTRAN, who plays First Officer Chakotay in the TV series “Star Trek: Voyager” has purchased a vintage Spanish-style home in Los Feliz, sources say.

Beltran, 37, made his film debut starring in the cult classic “Eating Raoul” (1982) and later appeared in “Scenes From the Class Struggle in Beverly Hills” (1989) and “Bugsy” (1991).

He had a recurring role as Lt. Soto on the prime-time soap “Models Inc.” (1994) and has guest-starred on “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” and “Murder, She Wrote.”

A second-generation Californian born in Bakersfield of Mexican heritage, Beltran is co-founder of the East Los Angeles Classic Theater Group, which produces Latino-oriented plays.

Beltran’s new home was built in 1931 and has three bedrooms plus maid’s quarters, a breakfast room and a step-down living room with a hand-painted ceiling. The 2,800-square-foot home sold for $445,000, sources say.

Beltran was represented in his purchase by Fred Hampton and Hattie Ramirez, both of the Prudential-Jon Douglas Co., Los Feliz.

PETER FORD, son of actor Glenn Ford and the late dancer-actress Eleanor Powell, and his wife, Lynda, have put their Hollywood home, which he refurbished in the Craftsman style of Greene & Greene, on the market at just under $1.9 million.

The couple decided to sell their home to move into his father’s house to keep the veteran actor company. Glenn Ford, who will be 80 on May 1, has lived in his 11,500-square-foot Beverly Hills house since he designed and built it himself in 1962; Peter and Lynda Ford were married there in 1970.

Peter Ford, 51, was an actor in his youth but became a builder. His Blackoak/Ford Construction Co. has completed residential projects for such celebrities as Julie Andrews and Blake Edwards, Richard Simmons, Jo Beth Williams and the late Dean Martin. Ford also built the Frank Gehry-designed Schnabel House in Brentwood.

Besides working on some remodeling projects, Ford, who ran unsuccessfully last spring for the Los Angeles Board of Education, now hosts a talk show three nights a week on KIEV Radio, AM 870.

Peter and Lynda Ford’s house has four bedrooms and a sun room in 5,500 square feet. There is a large exhibit area in the family room for his collection of Native American art. The house has 23 species of exotic woods. “It’s like being in an incredible yacht,” a source said. The Fords, who have three children, bought the house in 1991 from actor George Clooney and actress Kelly Preston, who had lived there and co-owned the residence. After moving out, Preston married actor John Travolta.

Gary More of Prudential-Douglas-Rodeo Realty, Beverly Hills, has the listing.

JANET CARROLL, who plays Diane on Bonnie Hunt’s CBS comedy series “Bonnie,” has signed a two-year lease on a home in Pacific Palisades, sources say.

Carroll, who previously lived in Santa Monica, leased a two-bedroom traditional ranch-style home with a den and guest house, which she uses as an office. The 1,800-square-foot home, which leases at $2,200 a month, also has canyon views.

Carroll plays Bonnie’s executive assistant. For the last five years, she played the wife of stuffy anchorman Jim Dial on “Murphy Brown.” She also played the mother of the Tom Cruise character in the 1983 movie “Risky Business.”
