Marcus Camby, Massachusetts All-American junior center, was selected the player of the year by the U.S. Basketball Writers Assn., it was announced.

Camby had 25 points, eight rebounds and six blocked shots as Kentucky defeated Massachusetts, 81-74, in an NCAA semifinal game. Afterward, he declined to discuss whether he will declare for the NBA draft.

“I haven’t thought about it at all,” Camby said. “Right now, I’m just too down to think about it.”

NCAA tournament officials said they recovered four media credentials acquired by people misrepresenting themselves as newspaper reporters Friday at the Meadowlands Arena.

“We got them all back tonight,” said Dave Cawood, NCAA media coordinator for the Final Four. “When you look hard enough for something, sometimes you find it.”

Cawood would not elaborate on how many people were involved, or how the NCAA caught the impostors. He said they were turned over to the New Jersey State Police.
