An Oxnard man died early Sunday after the car he was driving veered into oncoming traffic on Pacific Coast Highway at Mugu Rock, police said.

Alfonso Arellano, 32, died from head injuries received when his white Chevrolet Camaro struck a pickup truck head-on at 2:54 a.m. Nine other people involved in the two-car accident were treated for minor injuries.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Arellano and three passengers were heading north on the highway when, for undetermined reasons, his car crossed the road’s center lines into the south-bound lane.

His three passengers--Anilal Perez, 19, Jose Perez, 18, and Francisco Vazquez, 19, all of Oxnard--walked away from the accident scene. They were found about a mile away and taken to Community Memorial Hospital, police said.

Mireles, his 27-year-old wife, Paula, and their daughters Sonia, 8, and Karina, 9, were treated at St. John’s Regional Medical Center. Two other passengers--Juan Menoles, 25, and Jose Mendez, 20, both of Wilmington--were treated at St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital and released.

Raul Mireles was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
