Walt Disney Co. officials are considering a compromise proposal from the city of Anaheim, made in hope that the company will resurrect its plans to buy controlling interest in the Angels and help pay for the renovation of Anaheim Stadium.

City Manager James D. Ruth said “there has been movement on both sides” in the renewed negotiations. No details of the city’s proposal were revealed.

Disney Sports Enterprises President Tony Tavares conceded unofficial talks continued after Disney said it had ended negotiations.

“Talks on the deal itself ceased, but I talk to Jim Ruth on a variety of subjects,” he said. “We broke off serious discussions, but our discussions were never, indeed, over.”

On March 13, Tavares said flatly: “This deal is over. The negotiations have ended.”
