A 10-year-old girl stabbed and seriously injured her 17-year-old sister during a fight Monday night at their Panorama City home, police said.

Det. Craig Rudy of the Van Nuys Division said the two sisters were tussling about 9 p.m. Monday in the kitchen of their home when the younger girl grabbed a knife from the counter and stabbed her teenage sister in the chest.

The girls’ parents were not home at the time of the stabbing, police said, but other adults in the house at the time were in another room during the incident. The unidentified 10-year-old was arrested, booked and released into the custody of her parents, police said.
