‘Moses,’ ‘To Sir II’ Top the Easter Choices

The Easter weekend features a feast of movies and specials. Among them are:

* Two Moses flicks will be going head-to-head Sunday. TNT premieres its new four-hour drama “Moses,” starring Oscar winner Ben Kingsley as the biblical hero, at 5, 7 and 9 p.m. (The conclusion airs Monday.) Over on ABC, the most famous movie Moses, Charlton Heston, stars in the 1956 Cecil B. DeMille epic “The Ten Commandments,” at 7 p.m. on Channels 7 and 3. Yul Brynner, Anne Baxter and Yvonne DeCarlo also star.

* CBS presents “To Sir, With Love II,” Sunday at 9 p.m. on Channel 2. In the sequel to the 1967 Sidney Poitier classic, gifted teacher Mark Thackeray (Poitier) retires from the London school system and takes a teaching assignment in a south side Chicago school. Original stars Judy Geeson and Lulu make cameo appearances.

* Joey, Matthew and Andrew Lawrence star together in their first TV movie, “Brothers of the Frontier,” tonight at 9 on Channels 7 and 3. The three play pioneer siblings living in the Allegheny Mountains in the late 1700s.

* Melissa Joan Hart (“Clarissa”) portrays the bewitching Archie Comics character “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” a family comedy, Sunday at 8 p.m. on Showtime.

* A&E;’s new special “Rodgers and Hammerstein: The Sound of Movies,” Sunday at 5 and 9 p.m., pays tribute to the famed composers whose Broadway musicals were transformed into such popular films as “The Sound of Music,” “South Pacific,” “The King and I” and “Oklahoma!”

* Two new cable series also kick off this weekend. ESPN’s “Men’s Journal,” today at 8 a.m., travels to various locations to participate in sporting activities. The Discovery Channel’s “Discover Magazine,” Sunday at 8 p.m., explores a broad array of scientific topics.
