Share

Brian Riley singled home Brady Phelps and Rudy De la O with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday to give Buena High a 5-4 victory over Santa Paula in a Buena Ventura tournament game at Buena.

David Arroyo hit a two-run home run in the fourth to help the Bulldogs (11-4) overcome a 4-0 deficit. Santa Paula fell to 10-2-1.

Ventura Coach Dan Smith said he was forced to cancel the remaining games and end the six-team, round-robin tournament without a winner because the Southern Section prohibits teams in tournaments with fewer than eight schools from playing more than three games each.
