Three Orange County players advanced to the third round of the Easter Bowl junior tennis tournament Tuesday at the Riviera Resort and Country Club.

Geoff Abrams of Newport Beach and Kevin Kim of Fullerton won their second-round matches in straight sets in the boys’ 18 division as did Taylor Dent of Newport Beach in the boys’ 16s.

Abrams trailed, 5-4, in the first set against Mario Toledo of Delray Beach, Fla., but overpowered Toledo in the last three games and won, 7-5, 6-3. Abrams, who was warned for playing slowly by a USTA umpire in the second set, has not dropped a set in his two matches.

Kim, who reached the boys’ 18 singles finals last year and is seeded sixth this year, defeated Nathan Overholser of Okemos, Mich., 7-6 (7-5), 6-1. Abrams plays eighth-seeded Hugo Armando of Bradenton, Fla., at 9:30 a.m. today and Kim plays Matt Horsley of Lisle, Ill. at 11 a.m.

Dent, seeded seventh, took a little more than an hour to defeat Yorke Allen of McLean, Va., 6-0, 6-4. Dent, who finished No. 1 nationally last year in the boys’ 14, is playing in his first national tournament in the boys’ 16 division.

Abrams, Kim and Abrams are the only county players left in the winners’ draw of the boys’ and girls’ singles divisions. Joseph Gilbert of Fullerton lost his first-round match Monday but defeated Ron Nano of Great Neck, N.Y., in the consolation draw Tuesday, 6-4, 6-3. Faye DeVera of Villa Park also remained alive in the consolation draw of the girls’ 18.
