Woman Whose Car Struck Horse Dies
A 21-year-old Ojai woman whose car struck a stray horse on California 33 earlier this month has died of injuries she received in the accident.
Rebecca York died Friday of head injuries in Ventura County Medical Center’s intensive care unit, Mitch Breese of the Ventura County medical examiner’s office said.
York was found slumped behind the wheel of her car at daybreak, five hours after the dead horse was found near Foster Park about 1:30 a.m. on April 5. Her car rolled down an embankment and then plunged down another hill before ending up in the backyard of a residence.
York was not wearing a seat belt, Breese said.
