A 61-year-old Swedish man died Monday after collapsing of an apparent heart attack at the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

Humphry Siesage was treated by paramedics, then taken by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Siesage was stricken in Copley Square after completing the 26.2-mile run, race officials said. The state medical examiner planned an autopsy.

Paramedics along the route tended to a handful of other runners who were dehydrated or had turned ankles, sore feet or minor breathing problems. About a half-dozen runners were taken to hospitals with minor ailments.

“We had a couple of runners with bumps and bruises, a few dehydrated people,” said Douglas Farquharson, a dispatcher for the Natick Fire Department. “Considering the number of people who came through here, we have had a very low number of calls.”
