Beats Parchment

Share

Parchment paper is essential for delicate baking jobs, such as meringues and lace cookies.

Or is it? Like parchment paper, Von Snedaker’s Magic Baking Sheet is a nonstick sheet, but unlike parchment paper it can be wiped clean and reused. (Don’t cut anything on it, though, or food will stick to the scratches.) There’s one 17 1/4-by-14 1/2-inch sheet to a package. That’s the size of a cookie sheet, but you can cut it to fit other baking pans.

You can get it at the Plastic Mart in Santa Monica, or order by mail, $12.95 plus $1.80 for postage and handling and $1.07 state tax to Von Snedaker, 12021 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 231, Los Angeles, CA 90025.

Not-So-Sweet Memories

Nectarade could have been designed for everybody who has fond memories of Kool-Aid but no longer has such a powerful sweet tooth. It’s the same sort of flavors--peach, berry and so on--and a little bit less. At supermarkets.
