Would-Be Robber Apprehended After Chase, Deputies Say
Customers and employees at a Mexican food restaurant chased a would-be robber Saturday and detained him until authorities arrived, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Steffan Jung, 25, of Stanton was subdued by a group of residents near Carniceria Mexico Y Mercado at 10565 Beach Blvd. and arrested by sheriff’s deputies on suspicion of strong-arm robbery, Lt. Jay Mendez said.
Witnesses told deputies that a woman ordering food at the restaurant’s counter at 1:20 p.m. was approached and threatened by a man who bent her fingers back in a painful grip and demanded her wallet, which contained $100, Mendez said. The man, identified by witnesses as Jung, tried to escape but was captured nearby, Mendez said.
