A couple’s wedding reception at a Ventura park over the weekend was disrupted after several gunshots were fired into the air, sending people running for cover, police said.

The incident, which led to the arrest of two men, occurred shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday at Arroyo Verde Park, police said.

Earlier in the day, a group of Ventura residents had exchanged words with members of the Oxnard wedding party, and a member of the party was reportedly held at knifepoint in a park restroom, police said.

Later that evening, several shots were fired, sending people at the crowded park running, authorities said.

When police arrived, witnesses pointed to a couple of men, police said.

Police arrested Fidel Morales, 21, and Daniel Munoz, 20, both of Ventura. Morales allegedly was carrying a concealed handgun that was reported stolen. Munoz was wanted on an unrelated weapons charge, police said. Both men were booked into Ventura County Jail.

While the officers were detaining Munoz and Morales, more shots were fired into the park from near the intersection of Day and Foothill roads, police said.

Officers stopped a vehicle driven by a female juvenile. A male juvenile passenger, who was carrying a concealed handgun, was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall, police said.

No one was injured and no property damage resulted from the shots, police said.
