Drexler Ankle Better Than His Attitude

Share

Houston’s Clyde Drexler, clearly bothered by a sore right ankle Saturday, is close to normal for Game 3 against the Lakers tonight at the Summit. Probably. “I don’t really want to answer any questions about health,” he said after Monday’s practice. “We’re going to keep it on the game.”

But isn’t the injury status of a key player about the game? “We just want to focus on the game,” Drexler replied, “if it’s OK with you guys.”

Or apparently even if it isn’t.

Magic Johnson, who finished 12th in the league in free throw shooting at 85.6%, has made 89.3% of his free throws, 100 of 112, the last 15 games. . . . Columnist Fran Blinbury in the Houston Chronicle: “If the weekend in El-Lay taught us anything beside the fact that there is most definitely not a silicone shortage in this country, it is that the Rockets are the better team in this series and can beat the Lakers even if they are limping, victimized and half-awake. Which is an approach that earned them a split of Games 1 and 2.” . . . Saturday’s game marked the first time the Lakers were at full strength, between suspensions and injuries, in about 2 1/2 weeks.
