Kids and Mothers Share Lineup Spotlight

The awards shows keep on rolling, but at least there’s a twist to Nickelodeon’s “Kids’ Choice Awards,” airing today at 5 p.m. This time around, kids have the power to choose their favorite TV and movie star, singer, musical group, song and male and female athlete.

Whitney Houston returns for her second year as host of the one-hour event, which will be telecast live from Universal Studios. Elijah Wood, Paula Abdul, Mark Curry and Kirsten Dunst are among the presenters.

Mother’s Day programming Sunday includes the broadcast premiere of the 1993 Robin Williams hit comedy “Mrs. Doubtfire,” at 7 p.m. on Fox (Channel 11), and “Mother’s March,” a documentary about four women who have lost a child to AIDS, airing at 11:45 p.m. on KCET-TV (Channel 28).
