Marcia Takahashi, the dean of Mission League soccer coaches, has resigned her post with the Alemany High girls’ team.

In 12 seasons, Takahashi’s teams were 218-92-18 and won seven league championships.

Alemany last season was 13-17 and third in the league. The Indians were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.

Vicky Wagenbach, a 1988 Alemany graduate, will replace Takahashi. A former player at Alemany, Moorpark College and Cal State Hayward, she coached the Indian junior varsity last season.

Cross-Country

John Beattie, Saugus High coach for seven years, has resigned, citing “philosophical differences with the administration.”

Beattie, 34, guided the Centurion girls’ team to a share of the Foothill League title with Hart and Canyon in 1992. They won it outright in 1993. Beattie, who will continue to teach English at Saugus, said that the recent firing of long-time assistant coach Mark Funk and the administration’s decision to divide the head cross-country coaching job into separate boys’ and girls’ positions led to his decision.

Baseball

Bryan Maloney has resigned after three seasons as baseball coach at Agoura High.

Maloney, 30, who owns a baseball instruction school with five branches, said he is unable to give coaching ample time.

“For the [Agoura] program to continue to grow, it will need more attention,” Maloney said.

Agoura finished 6-18 overall this season and last in the Marmonte League at 1-13.

The Chargers were 22-52 during Maloney’s tenure.

Softball

Catcher Scia Maumausolo and pitcher Jen Richardson of Cal State Northridge were named to the All-West Region team.

Also selected was Fresno State pitcher Lindsay Parker, a La Canada High product, and center fielder Jenifer Henry, a 1991 graduate of Buena High.

Volleyball

James Alba of Canoga Park High was selected Mid-Valley League most valuable player.
