Changing the Format Turns Out to Be a Gamble

Share

Although I have nothing against horse racing per se, or those who enjoy it, it does seem odd to devote so much coverage in the Sports section to an activity that has little to do with sports and everything to do with gambling. It’s clear enough from the barrage of letters in the May 4 Viewpoint that restoring such coverage to the prior format will keep the parimutuel betting junkies happy. You could certainly please the rest of us by transferring all reporting of horse racing and handicapping from the sports pages to a more appropriate section of the paper, perhaps alongside the Lotto results.
