Police are searching for three men who broke into a house early Tuesday and stabbed a 52-year-old resident before fleeing with electronic equipment and jewelry.
The victim was treated by paramedics for several puncture wounds, police said.
The incident occurred at 2:45 a.m. when a man living in the 8500 block of Belmont Street was awakened by a “large thumping noise,” Police Lt. John Schaefer said. The resident got out of bed and was confronted by three men, all wearing black clothing and black bandannas, Schaefer said.
The robbers demanded money and guns. When the man said he had none, the assailants threw him on a bed and repeatedly stabbed him with a knife, inflicting several minor wounds, Schaefer said.
The three men ransacked the house and then bound the resident’s hands and feet with electrical cord. After the assailants fled, the resident hobbled to a neighbor’s home, where he was untied, Schaefer said.
Police described the three robbers as Latinos, about 5 feet 6 inches tall with the sides of their heads shaved. One of the suspects was muscular and the other two had medium builds, police said.
Cypress police investigators are asking anyone with information to call (714) 229-6631.
