Shaq Plays in Nickelodeon’s ‘Theater’

Orlando Magic superstar Shaquille O’Neal is the host of the Nickelodeon special “Nickelodeon’s Sports Theater With Shaquille O’Neal,” airing tonight at 9 and Sunday at 6 p.m. O’Neal narrates the story of a 4-foot-11 teen who, despite his height, dreams of earning a spot on his high school basketball team.

Discovery Channel also examines the world of sports with its new documentary, “Ultimate Athlete: Pushing the Limit,” Sunday at 9 p.m. The two-hour special, narrated by Louis Gossett Jr., looks at what it takes to rise to the top of the elite group of athletes who are younger, stronger and faster than they have ever been before.

Premiering on the Sci-Fi Channel today at 5 p.m. is “Within the Rock,” a thriller starring Xander Berkley and Bradford Tatum about a runaway moon on a direct collision course with Earth.

The highlight of the weekend’s movie repeats is the five-hour 1992 miniseries “Sinatra,” airing Sunday at 8 p.m. and concluding Tuesday at 9 p.m. on CBS-TV Channel 2. Philip Casnoff stars as Ol’ Blue Eyes in this musical drama produced by youngest daughter Tina Sinatra. Olympia Dukakis is featured as his mother, Dolly; Gina Gershon (“Showgirls”) is first wife Nancy; and Marcia Gay Harden is his second wife, Ava Gardner.
