2 Walk Away From Copter Crash

A couple whose helicopter crashed into a hill in on Friday, then plunged 100 feet, not only survived but were able-bodied enough to walk to a nearby fast-food outlet to phone for help.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department identified the fortunate fliers as pilot Joseph Berg, 58, of Las Vegas and passenger Ann Neville, 37, of North Hollywood.

After the couple’s rented two-seater crashed into the brush-covered Valencia hills at about 4 p.m., they found a nearby road, followed it to a Jack-In-The-Box and telephoned authorities, a Fire Department spokesman said.

They were treated for minor injuries at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital and released about 8 p.m., said Rose Morelli, administrative nursing supervisor.
