SAN CLEMENTE — Two men, one armed with a revolver, robbed a restaurant shortly after it closed early Sunday morning, escaping with about $5,000, police said.
Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Jay Mendez said the men, wearing ski masks, gloves and dark sweat clothes, apparently hid behind a wall near the Coco’s restaurant at 2350 S. El Camino Real until it closed about midnight.
“As an employee was leaving, the men forced their way in,” Mendez said, and ordered other employees to the floor.
One employee was struck on the head with the revolver.
Employees called police about five minutes after the two men fled.
