‘Welcome Home’ Signs OKd by Council

Following the lead established by two of its neighbors to the east, the Camarillo City Council on Wednesday approved erecting a series of “Welcome Home” signs at the gateways to the city.
The signs, which read simply “Welcome Home. Please Drive Safely,” will be placed at two dozen entrances to the city.
Designed to reduce traffic accidents, the signs will be clustered near Ventura Freeway offramps and other busy streets leading into the city.
Both Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks city officials agreed earlier this year to erect similar signs to reduce accidents.
“The signs will be posted on existing street-light poles as much as possible to minimize the need for installing additional signposts,” City Engineer Dan Greeley told council members in his staff report.
About 24 metal signs are expected to be erected over the next several weeks.
