Man Killed in Hit-Run Freeway Crash
Police are looking for anyone who witnessed a fatal hit-and-run crash on the San Diego Freeway at Valley View Street during the morning rush hour Wednesday.
Victor Felix, 37, of Huntington Beach was killed in the 7:40 a.m. accident when the force of the collision threw him from the rear of a one-ton stake-bed truck in which he was riding, CHP spokeswoman Denise Medina said.
According to witnesses, Medina said, the accident was sparked by an old-model beige Subaru hatchback or similar vehicle that made an unsafe change from the fast lane, causing a chain-reaction crash that flipped the truck onto the shoulder.
The Subaru did not stop after sideswiping a 1986 Volkswagen Cabriolet, which in turn careened into the truck.
The truck, which was pulling a trailer, flipped over, throwing Felix from the bed, Medina said.
Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information should call CHP Officer Jim Malner at (714) 892-4426.
