Firefighters freed a 66-year-old woman from her partially crushed Cadillac on Friday afternoon after the vehicle was rear-ended by a pickup truck on Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks, authorities said.

Virginia Burkette of Thousand Oaks was treated at Los Robles Regional Medical Center and released.

“We had to pry the doors open and cut the doors to get her out of the car,” said county Fire Capt. Lee Heise.

The force of the crash squeezed the driver’s side door so that firefighters could not open it, he said.

The 19-year-old truck driver, David Bouchard of Newbury Park, was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The accident occurred when Burkette stopped her car for traffic at the intersection of Hillcrest and Almon Drive and Bouchard’s truck smashed into it, Deputy Brad Clifton said.

The accident remains under investigation, but there is no indication alcohol was a factor in the collision, he said.
