Two Men Are Sought in Attack on Couple

Police are seeking the public’s help in locating two men suspected of shooting, stabbing and beating an Orange couple outside their home Sunday night.

Before they lost consciousness, the victims identified their attackers as Manny Martinez, 22, of Orange and Jason Russell Davis, 19, of Placentia. Police believe the attackers fled the scene in Davis’ maroon 1989 Nissan mini-truck, with a license plate of 3W81048.

Robert James Ward, 23, and Lisa Marie Marco, 22, were attacked after they argued with two men in the couple’s driveway in the 800 block of West Fletcher Avenue about 10 p.m. Sunday.

Ward was shot in the head and stabbed in his head and torso, and Marco suffered multiple stab wounds and blunt-force trauma to her torso, police said. Ward remained in critical condition Tuesday, a hospital spokeswoman said. Marco’s family requested Tuesday that her condition not be released. She was in stable condition Monday.

Ward named Martinez as one of his attackers before he lost consciousness, said Orange Police Lt. Ed Tunstall. One of the victims named the other assailant as “Jason,” and investigators worked through the night Monday to learn his full identity, Tunstall said.

The men are being sought on attempted murder charges, police said. Martinez is described as 5 feet 9 and 185 pounds, Latino, with brown hair and brown eyes. Davis is described as 5 feet 10 and 190 pounds, white, with brown hair and blue eyes.

Police were unsure what led to the confrontation.

“Until we can talk to either of the victims, all we can do is develop theories,” Tunstall said.

Anyone with information about the crime or the suspects is asked to call the Orange Police Department at (714) 744-7380.
