Obituaries : Lillian F. Lipman; Temple Volunteer

Lillian F. Lipman, a Newbury Park homemaker, died Thursday following complications from a heart attack. She was 85.

Lipman was born Oct. 8, 1910, in Brooklyn, N.Y. She spent most of her life in New York, keeping the books and ringing up sales at the grocery market run by her husband, Leroy Lipman.

After his retirement, the Lipmans moved to Ventura County to be near their only child, Jay Lipman, who lives in Los Angeles. Lillian Lipman became an active member of Temple Adat Elohim in Thousand Oaks, volunteering for the temple’s rummage and book sales, Jay Lipman said.

“If there was a task to do, she would do it,” he said.

The Lipmans also enjoyed traveling, visiting China, Europe, South America and Alaska.

Lillian Lipman was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1989. Other survivors include two grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Mortuary in Westlake Village.
