SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

If you’re looking for ways to entertain summer visitors who like to shop, you might want to take them to browse the racks at Reel Clothes, where all manner of men’s and women’s studio wardrobes from past, present and future releases sell at deeply discounted prices.

Your guests would probably love to go home with something some star wore in a film. Most of the price tags state the film or TV show the item of clothing is from and who wore it. Identifying the items this way adds to the shopping fun.

A large number of one- and two-piece swimsuits for men and women will be seen in a new movie, not yet released, called “The Dentist,” starring Corbin Bernsen. A two-piece fuchsia suit was $53 when purchased for the film and now is $30.

From an upcoming Danielle Steele TV movie (NBC), there’s a good supply of traditional white cotton shirts by Turnbull & Asser of London that retail for $160; the price at Reel Clothes is $80.

Some hefty guy who goes for the hip-hop look will love the extra large Karl Kani jeans for $32, instead of the original $80. A good-looking brown and blue sport coat (Lanvin) from a Vogue photo shoot is priced at $300; new it was over $600. For a dressier look, there’s an Yves St. Laurent suit in taupe that was never worn from a canceled TV series called “Deadly Games” with Christopher Lloyd. It’s a real deal at $180 (originally $800) for a Size 46.

Also from the Vogue photo shoot is a black silk cocktail dress with the original price tag of $1,450, now selling for $400. If you’re not dressing up, a white cotton dress with a bustier top that would have set you back $130 can be yours for $70. And you’ll have the opportunity to tell all your friends it’s from the TV movie, “A Weekend in the Country.”

Or from an upcoming Danielle Steele TV movie, there is a pair of blue cotton shorts that look like a skirt for $12; you could have paid $42.50 for them at The Gap.

Most of the women’s apparel usually falls in sizes from 2 to 8, but right now there’s a good selection of larger sizes from a couple of films with some Venus-size stars. For men, figure size 38 to 50. Don’t miss the T-shirt rack where the prices start at $1.
