Hello, Mellow

It’s b-a-a-c-k. We’re talking about the Mellow Way, a luscious fudge and marshmallow candy that disappeared from See’s candy stores 30 years ago. And it’s better than ever.

Revived in honor of See’s 75th anniversary this year, the Mellow Way has been reformulated. The fudge layer on the bottom is creamier, with a new, truffle-like flavor. The marshmallow layer on top is also creamier. The milk chocolate coating and sprinkle of finely chopped walnuts remain the same.

Richard Van Doren, See’s vice president, marketing, says he knows the Mellow Way was on hand in the 1930s and is probably even older than that. “If it catches on,” he says, “we might leave it in the line [beyond ‘96].”
