The Rockies optioned pitcher Bryan Rekar to triple-A Colorado Springs and recalled pitcher Jamey Wright, who will start Wednesday night against the Giants. . . . The Tigers are expected to place right-hander Greg Gohr on the 15-day disabled list because of recurring tendinitis in his left knee. Left-hander C.J. Nitkowski, 4-6 with a 4.64 ERA at triple-A Toledo, will probably get recalled and make Gohr’s scheduled start Thursday against Toronto. . . . The Chicago Cubs put right-hander Mike Campbell on the 15-day disabled list because of tendinitis in his right elbow and recalled right-hander Tanyon Sturtze from Triple-A Iowa. Jim Bullinger is expected to replace Campbell in the rotation. He was 3-5 with a 6.94 ERA in 11 starts before being demoted to the bullpen. . . . New York Yankee second baseman Pat Kelly, sidelined all season because of a right shoulder injury, began his rehab assignment in the Gulf Coast League and was one for five with a home run.
