Greg Minor Transfers to Northridge

NORTHRIDGE — Greg Minor, a two-time All-Valley selection by The Times at Canyon High, will transfer to Cal State Northridge, where he will be eligible to play for the 1997-98 season.
Minor, Canyon’s career scoring leader, failed to meet NCAA academic requirements out of high school and instead attended South Plains College, a two-year school in Levelland, Texas. Because he was not an academic qualifier, he will have to sit out one season at Northridge.
A 6-foot-2 shooting guard, Minor averaged 28 points his senior year with the Cowboys, leading the region. In his only season at South Plains, he played in 27 games, averaging 11.5 points in 23 minutes. He shot 42% from three-point range.
“I want to go on and get started with Division I,” Minor said. “I wanted to come home and make an impact. In Texas, I got a little homesick.”
Northridge Coach Bobby Braswell is prohibited from commenting about Minor until the player enrolls and is on campus for the fall semester.
