Talented Teens Stage 1st-Class Fund-Raiser

On June 21, our family and a large contingent of Conejo Valley supporters attended an outstanding theater fund-raiser at Newbury Park High School. All of the entertainment, waiters, et al was beautifully done by our local teens, but nary a word or picture was seen in your news publication.

The summer dinner/dance featured a sumptuous catered dinner. Music was provided by the Newbury Park High School Jazz Band and the Camarillo High Jazz Band. The Newbury Park choir sang, little vignettes were presented, soloists from both Newbury Park and Camarillo high schools performed. Waiters for the evening were from the schools’ football teams. A silent auction took place, and everyone was urged to participate in the dancing.

All proceeds went toward the completion of the Newbury High School Theater. The $1.9 million allotted for the theater is insufficient to complete dressing rooms, costume storage and sufficient restrooms.

Colell, visual/performing arts chairwoman at Newbury Park High, and volunteer to help make next year’s event even greater. Let’s honor our fantastic, talented teens who are happily in the majority.
