Offering cats and dogs protection against rabies, three low-cost vaccination clinics will be held this month in the San Fernando Valley, the Southern California Veterinary Medical Assn. has announced.

A clinic is scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at North Hollywood Recreation Center, 5301 Tujunga Ave. Other clinics will be held during the same hours Tuesday at Reseda Recreation Center, 18411 Victory Blvd., and July 30 at Woodland Hills Recreation Center, 5858 Shoup Ave.

The clinics are administered by SCVMA veterinarians in cooperation with the Los Angeles Department of Animal Regulation.

The cost is $4 for rabies inoculations that provide three years’ protection for dogs and cats at least a year old. Younger pets will only be protected for a year with the vaccinations, spokeswoman Elaine Eames said.

Pet owners may also receive $11 six-in-one vaccinations for dogs and $11 four-in-one vaccinations for cats during the clinics. Also available will be $5 dog vaccinations for coronavirus and bordetella.

Dogs older than 4 months are required by law to be vaccinated against rabies, Eames said. The law does not apply to cats or to other vaccinations but they are recommended by veterinarians.

To participate, all dogs must be leashed and all cats must be protected in a carrier. For more information, call (310) 948-2211.
