The Internal Revenue Service announced Tuesday that a Temple City real estate broker pleaded guilty to one count of laundering drug money.

Danilo Edgardo Ortega, 52, admitted that he conspired with convicted drug dealer Anibal Cardona-Hernandez to deposit Cardona’s cash into checking accounts under Ortega’s name.

Cardona was arrested in September 1994 at the Bermuda Dunes Airport, near Palm Springs, with 660 pounds of cocaine, Department of Justice officials said. By examining Cardona’s case, investigators were led to Ortega, who was arrested Feb. 6.
