City Will Open Its First Major Park
The long-awaited Juan Bautista de Anza Park in Calabasas will open officially Sunday.
The 8-acre park, the first major recreational facility constructed by the young city, will feature three playground areas--with age-appropriate equipment for toddlers to teens--and a multiuse game court, said Jeff Rubin, Calabasas’ recreation specialist.
The dedication ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. on the park grounds, 3701 Lost Hills Road.
In addition to the play areas, the park boasts outside barbecues, a recreation center and room for a 250-person corporate picnic, Rubin said.
“We’re going to be doing it all out there,” he added. “It’s very exciting.”
The park took a year to build and cost the city $1.8 million.
Juan Bautista de Anza Park is located at the corner of Lost Hills and Las Virgenes roads. The ceremony, like the park, is open to all residents.
