Tree trimming, cleanup and erosion control are planned at Hillcrest Park as the city prepares to begin a $6.9-million rehabilitation of the town’s premiere landmark.

City officials this week said about $200,000 will be spent in the coming year on the 40-acre park at Harbor Boulevard and Lemon Street.

Over the next five to 10 years, other projects at the 72-year-old park will focus on irrigation, construction of bathrooms and installation of lighting, concrete walks, parking lots, benches, tables and drinking fountains, said Susan Hunt, city community services director.
