Fund Established for Dead Girl’s Family

Relatives and friends of a 15-year-old Ventura girl, whose skeletal remains were discovered in a remote Santa Barbara County canyon last week, have established a fund to help the family meet burial expenses and to generate money to create a reward for anyone providing information that brings her killer to justice.
Jenniffer Rose Vernals, who was last seen March 20 shopping at a downtown Ventura thrift store, was listed by police as a runaway until Aug. 4, when a rancher checking his water wells north of Montecito near Toro Canyon Road came across her remains.
The Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department has set up hotlines for tips leading to Vernals’ killer at (805) 681-4100 or (805) 681-4150.
Those wishing to contribute may address donations to the Jenniffer Rose Vernals Fund, Wells Fargo Bank, Ventura County Center Branch, 5751 Telephone Road, Ventura, CA 93003. Contributors can also transfer donations directly to the fund from any Wells Fargo Bank account.
