COLLEGE FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : Overhauser Part of Line Overhaul

The first change on the UCLA depth chart was made Sunday, when Chad Overhauser and Andy Meyers exchanged positions, Overhauser moving from right guard to right tackle.
The reason? Bruin quarterback Cade McNown is left-handed.
“Based on what we do, you want your best lineman to be in the position where the degree of difficulty of the block is the toughest,” line coach Steve Marshall said.
In this case, the degree of difficulty stems from the necessity to protect McNown’s blind side when he sets to throw. Overhauser, a junior who is the most experienced and best of the Bruin linemen, is charged with McNown’s safety.
UCLA lacks depth on the offensive line. Starters will probably be Kris Farris, a 6-foot-9, 288-pound redshirt freshman, at left tackle; Chad Sauter, a junior, at left guard; Shawn Stuard, a sophomore, at center; Meyers, a sophomore, at right guard and Overhauser at right tackle.

Wide receiver Derek Ayers sprained his ankle during practice and is listed as day-to-day.
