The second annual “El Sabor de San Fernando,” a one-day family festival featuring music, games, rides and food, will take place Sunday at the downtown San Fernando mall.

More than 10,000 people are expected at “El Sabor de San Fernando”--Spanish for “Taste of San Fernando,” said Bruce Cohen, president of the city’s Chamber of Commerce.

“We feel that so few people in the Valley know that San Fernando is its own city and even fewer know what a gem of a city it is,” Cohen said. “This event will give them a taste of San Fernando.”

Latin bands and disc jockeys from two Spanish-language radio stations will entertain the crowds on the mall as they browse among booths representing area restaurants, businesses and nonprofit organizations. Carnival rides, games and a petting zoo will be available for children.

“It’s a very positive event, a family activity. There is no charge to come and no alcohol will be served at the festival,” Cohen said.

Sunday’s festival will run from noon to 6 p.m. For more information call (818) 361-1184.
