Splash Put Down by the Hotshots

The Splash gave up seven unanswered goals in the second half and lost, 8-3, to the Houston Hotshots in a Continental Indoor Soccer League game Saturday at The Summit in Houston.
The loss, its fourth in the last six games, drops the Splash (9-7) a game behind San Diego (11-7) in the Western Division.
The Splash was outshot, 39-24, in the game, including, 25-10, in the second half. Goalkeeper Ruben Fernandez stopped 21 shots.
In the teams’ last meeting July 26, the Splash was outshot, 40-30, but came away with a 10-4 victory.
Dale Ervine had a goal, giving him at least one in eighth consecutive games. Bernie Lilavois did not score a point for the first time this season. Sam George and Paul McDonnell scored the Splash’s other goals.
Houston (14-6), which has won five consecutive games and nine of its last 11, improved its league-leading home record to 8-1.
The Splash, which is 2-3 on its current trip, fell to 5-4 on the road this season.
