In an unusual move, the City Council has passed a resolution praising a development in another community: the Disneyland expansion in Anaheim.

City Manager Daniel E. Keen recommended the resolution, saying that the project has the potential for a positive economic effect on La Palma from “jobs that will be created, as well as the additional tourism generated for Orange County.”

In its resolution, the council stated: “La Palma proclaims its support of the cooperative efforts of the City of Anaheim and Disneyland in creating the Disneyland Resort from which all of Orange County will benefit.”

The resolution says the new Disneyland Resort would generate $10 million in new annual revenue for Orange County.

The council also said the resort would produce “14,500 total direct and indirect permanent new jobs in Southern California.”
