St. Louis Cardinal pitcher Donovan Osborne was arrested early Monday at Houston on charges of public intoxication and criminal trespass for refusing to leave a night club. Osborne, 27, the winning pitcher in the Cardinals’ 1-0 victory over the Astros on Friday, was booked at about 3:20 a.m. and released about 1 1/2 hours later.

Osborne issued a statement apologizing to fans and to the team.

Osborne posted a $200 bond on the public intoxication charge and $300 on the criminal trespass count. Both are misdemeanor charges, each carrying a fine of up to $500.

New York Yankee right-hander David Cone was effective in his second minor-league rehabilitation start, giving up one unearned run in six innings with six strikeouts and one walk. He threw 83 pitches, 58 for strikes, and gave up five hits for Norwich of the double-A Eastern League.

Also, the Yankees placed infielder-outfielder Pat Listach on the 15-day disabled list because of a broken right foot and recalled outfielder Ruben Rivera from triple-A Columbus. Listach was acquired in a trade last week from Milwaukee. Bob Watson, the Yankees’ general manager, declined comment when asked if he knew about the injury when the deal was made.

The Houston Astros obtained reliever Gregg Olson from the Detroit Tigers for two players to be announced. Olson was 3-0 with eight saves and a 5.02 ERA in 43 games as the Tiger closer. Astro closer Billy Wagner is recovering from a strained groin and John Hudek is recovering from surgery. Meanwhile, Detroit infielder Damion Easley will sit out at least a week after pulling his right hamstring Sunday at Kansas City.
