The San Fernando Valley Interfaith Council, which operates 15 nutrition programs for seniors around the Valley, will celebrate the third anniversary of its Las Palmas Park location Friday.

Anyone 60 or older is invited to the party. “Nobody is ever turned away because they don’t have any money,” said Marylou Vasquez of the Council. “We welcome all seniors.”

For those who can afford to pay, the council requests $1.50 donation for meals at all 15 of its locations, which operate Monday to Friday throughout the Valley.

In addition to providing meals--many to the homebound--the nutrition centers offer a chance for seniors to socialize, Vasquez said.

The council’s newest nutrition center opened last month at Van Nuys/Sherman Oaks Park in Van Nuys.

Friday’s anniversary celebration, which includes music and lunch, will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Las Palmas Park, 505 S. Huntington St., San Fernando.
