Stopping Him Might Be No. 1 Concern

The key to the Tennessee pass rush is Leonard Little, and UCLA’s Chad Overhauser will see a lot of him Saturday.

Little won’t be hard to find. Defensive ends who wear No. 1 usually aren’t.

“He has a little bit of speed,” said Overhauser, a 295-pound tackle who was joking about his 230-pound opponent. “I think he runs a 4.5 [in the 40-yard dash].”

The Volunteers move Little around on the line, but generally play him over the left tackle, where he often has to deal with a tight end.

“I guess he’s the key,” Overhauser said Wednesday. “I have to keep my position and set up fast to deal with him.”

Little played sparingly against Nevada Las Vegas in Tennessee’s season-opening 62-3 victory on Saturday because he has a broken hand.

Coach Bob Toledo said redshirt freshman Ryan Roques and true freshman Keith Brown would return kickoffs against Tennessee, and Toledo admits that their youth makes him a bit nervous. “I’ve told them, ‘You’re back there with my paycheck in your hand,’ ” he said. . . . Listed as out for Saturday’s game because of injury are safety Larry Atkins (calf strain), tight end Gabe Crecion (cracked bone in foot), linebacker Michael Wiley (hamstring) and wide receiver Ahmad Hebert (hamstring). Probable are guard Chad Sauter (ankle sprain) and fullback Craig Walendy (shoulder).
