Chemical Castration
* The most recent California Assembly decision to decree a three-year period of “chemical castration” for child molesters (Aug. 31) does nothing to solve the long-term problem. Child molesters are predators. They rape, torture and kill our children. Their repeat offense rate is an admitted 100%. What happened to permanent imprisonment as a way of stopping their horrendous behavior? Well beyond the extremely dangerous precedent of modifying a person’s behavior by forcefully instilling drugs, the plan is typical of election-year politicking at its worst. It’s smoke, mirrors and constitutionally questionable.
